Seventh grade social studies students extended learning beyond the classroom walls as they took a walking tour of the neighborhood as part of their unit on early American history.
Teachers Michael Johnson and Maggie Staub started the tour up the street from the Morris Street campus at Trinity Church Cemetery where they visited Alexander Hamilton's grave. They then journeyed over to Federal Hall where they stood within feet of the spot from which George Washington was inaugurated as the first president of the United States. The tour ended with a view of Fraunces Tavern, the landmark museum and restaurant which served as a headquarters for George Washington during the American revolution.
