Léman students have ample opportunities to participate in sports across 45 competitive athletic teams ranging from basketball and volleyball to squash and swimming. With access to two indoor pools, a rock-climbing wall, a full gymnasium, and the city's many fields and parks Léman students are challenged to achieve their personal best. Through organized and individual activities, students learn to set goals, develop the discipline required to meet them, and celebrate their achievements.
We incorporate physical activity starting in Early Childhood through physical education classes, swim instruction, and recess time on our rooftop playground. Team sports are introduced starting in 5th Grade, which provides opportunities for collaboration with students in Middle School. At the Junior Varsity and Varsity level, student athletes are expected to commit themselves to the team and to continued self-improvement. High School athletics include increased emphasis on physical conditioning, fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork.
Léman is a member of the PSAA (Private School Athletic Association) and ISAL (Independent School Athletic League) as well as the NYSAIS Athletic Association.
