June 03, 2019
On Saturday, June 1, Léman honored its seventh graduating class. Before the ceremony, students walked the streets of the Financial District, a Léman tradition, posing for photos on the steps of Federal Hall and the Charging Bull Statue.
During the graduation ceremony at the Broad Street Ballroom, proud parents, students, and faculty celebrated the accomplishments of our 106 talented graduates. Marvin Krislov, President of Pace University, shared expert advice on life after high school, saying, “As you go forth from Léman, remember the experience you’ve had here, the different people with whom you’ve collaborated, and take that commitment to building community with you. You have embraced each other’s differences in your time here. You have learned from their viewpoints and worked to understand them. That understanding, of cultural differences and backgrounds, makes you a better student and a better person. Continue to challenge yourself. As you go on to college, I want you to maintain your commitment to embracing difference. Embrace your community, volunteer, make positive change. Keep working together across boundaries and borders, and I know you will succeed in college and succeed in life.”
English Department Chair and Upper School English Teacher Emma Birch provided faculty remarks, and Refilwe Kekana ’19 gave the student speech.
After the graduates walked the stage, the celebration continued at a special reception at the 1 Morris Street terrace overlooking the New York Harbor and the Statue of Liberty.
Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
