2026 Science Research Symposium

Our High School Science students presented independent research projects completed through Ms. Spicijaric’s Science Research elective course.
In this class, students develop the skills necessary to conduct scientific investigations and produce professional-level research papers. After securing mentors during their junior year, students design their research projects, collect and analyze data, and present their findings in a variety of formats.
Among this year’s participants, senior Samia P.’s work in Léman’s Science Research Program was recently published in the scholarly journal Transfusion. Her research focused on sickle cell disease and was conducted under the mentorship of Dr. Kristine Karkoska from the University of Cincinnati.
The Science Research program continues to provide students with meaningful opportunities to develop advanced research skills and engage in authentic scientific investigation.
