Our Athletic Philosophy

The goals of Léman Manhattan’s Athletic Program are to improve each student’s physical fitness, to develop his or her motor skills, to encourage good sportsmanship and to help each student’s social and emotional development.
These goals are achieved by providing a variety of athletic opportunities designed to enable each athlete to find his or her areas of interest.
Léman Manhattan is a member of the PSAA (Private School Athletic Association) and ISAL (Independent School Athletic League) as well as the NYSAIS Athletic Association.  At the Varsity and Junior Varsity level, student-athletes are expected to commit themselves to the team and to continued self-improvement. There is an increased emphasis placed on physical conditioning, fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork.

Additionally, our outstanding coaches emphasize the character benefits of participating in sports on a team. All coaches work with administration, the school psychologist and teachers to promote the educational welfare of our student-athletes.

We encourage students to participate in life and leisure-time activities. Finally, we encourage students to embrace physical activity that enhances health and wellness.
