Jerry Maraia Featured in Western New York Family Magazine

April 18, 2017

Assistant Head of School, Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Jerry Maraia was featured as an expert source in Western New York Family Magazine's April 2017 issue about the omission of cursive handwriting from the Common Core Curriculum. In the article, Maraia explains "Educators need to teach writing from the perspective of the communication of ideas. It doesn't mean we don't care about penmanship or cursive. It's just less important. Unfortunately, sometimes kids associate writing instruction with their penmanship. This undermines words and ideas."
