Senior Spotlight - Jacob Passick

March 11, 2017

For athlete and aspiring entrepreneur Jacob Passick, Léman provided many opportunities to challenge himself while pursuing his varied interests.

A multi-cultural student body, as well as supportive teachers who cared about his success, contributed to his positive experience. "It's amazing to have such a diverse school to learn in, especially in New York City. In my science class, seven different countries of origin are represented, from Iran to Israel and Australia," which opened his eyes to different perspectives.

Jacob credits the rigor of the IB diploma program with preparing him for the college application process. Between his responsibilities as a full IB Diploma candidate, as well as Captain of the Boys Varsity Baseball and Boys Varsity Basketball teams, a Léman Student Ambassador and a member of the National Honor Society, Jacob felt it was important to get started on the college application process early. "I started thinking about college in my freshman year, and I'm thankful to my mom and (Léman College Counselor) Ms. McMickle for their support and encouragement during the application process."

Jacob applied and was accepted Early Decision to Cornell University, his first choice school, where he plans to follow his passions of business, labor relations, and human rights in the Industrial Labor Relations School and hopes to pursue a career in sports management.

When asked how he will look back at his High School experience, he said, "Léman gave me the tools to be successful, and I'm glad I took advantage of everything I was offered."
