Senior Spotlight - Candice Appiah

March 10, 2017

When reflecting on her time at Léman, Candice Appiah says that she feels that the school has been "a perfect fit" for her, and during her four years at the school, it's clear that Candice has thrived.

A full IB Diploma candidate, Candice came to Léman in 9th Grade. "When I visited the school I was impressed by how open and friendly the community was, as well as the beautiful facilities. I felt Léman had a lot to offer me, and I had a lot to offer Léman."

Candice feels confident that she will succeed in college thanks to hard work she's put into her IB courses. "Even though doing the IB was difficult, it was worth it because I feel prepared for next year," she says.

While managing the rigor of the IB program, Candice has also successfully held multiple student leadership roles: President of the National Honor SocietyStudent Body Vice President, and Co-Founder of the Black Student Union.

This fall, Candice will attend Wheaton College in Norton, MA. She has been named a Posse Scholar by the Posse Foundation, a highly competitive and selective program that identifies talented high school students with extraordinary leadership potential through nominations by their school or community organization. As a Posse Scholar, Candice has earned a four-year, full-tuition scholarship to Wheaton.

"Léman provided me with opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten elsewhere," said Candice. "If you have a good head and a good heart, you will succeed at Léman."
