Parenting Speaker Series: Childhood Anxiety in Everyday Life

November 28, 2016

Today, children of all ages are growing up in a complex world that often feels scary, overwhelming, and unpredictable. Coupled with intensifying social and academic pressure, they may show signs of stress and anxiety that affect everyone in your family. An integral part of the Léman philosophy is honoring students’ personal passions and interests, as well as addressing what concerns them. We are proud to be a resource in our community for these conversations, as well as to provide a forum for discussion for our parents, educators and the larger community.

As part of the Léman Manhattan Parenting Speaker Series, Léman Manhattan has invited renowned clinical psychologist Dr. Ron Taffel to share insights and hands-on techniques that work throughout the different stages of childhood to diminish anxiety in your child’s life and your own.

Dr. Taffel has authored several popular parenting books, as well as professional books, including Childhood Unbound: The Powerful New Parenting Approach That Gives Our 21st Century Kids the Authority, Love, and Listening They Need to Thrive. This look at the particular concerns facing parents and children today explores effective ways to empower, engage and nurture 21st-century kids.

His approach focuses on concrete positive methods, illustrated through clear success stories. In his speaking and writing he addresses key concerns, such as:

·       Approaching consequences and rewards in a way that supports your values.

·       Building effective communication.

·       Finding ways to create a community for children where they feel safe, supported and nurtured.

The Léman Manhattan Parenting Speaker Series brings internationally renowned experts in child development to speak to our local community. We invite you to a series of talks that address the complex issues facing today’s parents.
