As an introduction to their winter-long thematic study of the rainforest, PreK 4 spent their first week back from Winter Break exploring habitats. They focused on four specific habitats; the desert, ocean, savanna, and rainforest, examining the locations, environment, weather, and various animal inhabitants of each. The classes then recreated mini-versions of these four "habitats" for their "H" dictionary page using various mediums. Students used real sand for the desert, dyed shaving cream and watercolors to paint the ocean, various shades of green construction paper cut out in leaf designs for the rainforest, and fake grass, butcher paper, and sharpie markers to create a unique savanna tree.
