Lower School

Our Lower School is a vibrant, joyful place. Curriculum is focused on educating the whole child and developing strong critical thinking skills.

We offer a diverse program that encourages students to reach their academic, social and emotional potential in a challenging yet nurturing environment that embraces family, community and citizenship.

Through our many offerings, children find their passions and develop their interests and strengths. As a result, our students become independent thinkers and competent decision makers who are excited to learn.

In addition to emphasizing proficiency in reading, writing and math, our Lower School program focuses on world languages, the humanities, science and physical education. Music and visual arts are also an integral part of our curriculum as they help to develop creativity, open-ended thinking and cooperation.

We also know children learn best when they are given hands-on activities, which can take many forms. To learn about supply and demand, first graders sell recycled items they¹ve made for Earth Day. Our youngest students are often the source of the biggest ideas at Léman. Our goal is to ignite learners’ minds in limitless ways.

With a small student-teacher ratio, our faculty get to know our children and parents very well. Parents are invited to be in touch with our teachers frequently. We have high expectations of our children¹s work and behavior, and strongly believe in providing clear and ongoing feedback to students and families. Our teachers provide thoughtful attention to each child’s social and emotional health and development, and focus on building classroom communities in which children feel secure and safe to take risks, and in which all voices are heard and respected.
